Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg is a Swedish actor from Sweden. She appeared in a number of films including European as well as American. Most famously, she is known for her work in the comedy drama film "La Dolce Vita". The film premiered in 1960 and was awarded with the Golden Palm and an Oscar from the Cannes Film Festival. The movie also enjoyed critically and commercial success. Born in Skane where she worked as models before launching the acting profession. She won an award in the Miss Sweden competition. In the US the actress began to appear in movies, albeit with a minor role. She played the Venusian Guard in 'Abbott and Costello Go to Mars. It was her first film credit. That same year she was awarded the Golden Globe in the category of "Most Outstanding Newcomer" in recognition of her role in the movie "Blood Alley.. Her work included a variety of films which included the War between Italy and America, as well as the drama film War and Peace, the Western 'Valerie,' the British crime thriller The Man Inside and the French/Italian Drama, The Dam on the Yellow River.' In 2015, she died at the age of 83.
